Just two kilometres from our hotel at Mount Rosengarten-Latemar, an unbelievably beautiful natural site is hidden away. Karer See (also known as Lago di Carezza) is a lake of quiet contemplation located at the edge of the Latemar forest, at 1,520 metres above sea level. You can reach the lake by foot by crossing the new suspension bridge; it will only take 20 minutes.

The Karer See is best known for its crystal-clear, dark green water; it reflects the Dolomite mountains in the morning and evening. It’s a stunning location that has inspired countless artists and writers – and about which more than a few fabulous legends have arisen.
