Stress-free travel to the Dolomites

Stress-free travel to the Dolomites

Your holiday starts the moment you set off

When does your holiday actually begin? When you relax into your hotel bed? With a welcome drink as you arrive at reception? When you take your first breath of fresh mountain air?
With the right planning, your holiday begins the moment you set off. Leave travel stress and fatigue behind, feel as free as the wind as the scenery unfolds before you, everyday life fading away as the excitement grows with every mile. How can you achieve this while you travel to the Dolomites and to Moseralm Dolomiti Hideaway, whether travelling to South Tyrol by bus or train, or by car?
By car
If you travel to the Dolomites by car you will enjoy the greatest freedom and flexibility. There are two ways to reach our hotel: from the Bolzano Nord exit of the Brennero motorway, head towards Val d’Ega and, shortly after the Karersee/Lake Carezza sign, turn left to Moseralm; alternatively, approach via Passo di Costalunga from Val di Fassa. All routes are accessible year-round and are usually cleared quickly in the event of snowfall.
On site, you can rent a garage space and charge your electric vehicle at our charging stations (for a fee). From there, the Dolomites are yours to explore, whether by car or public transport, which you can use free of charge with the Südtirol GuestPass, saving you the hassle of finding parking along the way. We will be happy to provide you with more detailed information, for example on traffic-restricted zones as well as winter and night-time pass closures.

By bus and train
Travelling to South Tyrol by train or bus not only saves money and benefits the environment, but also lets you sit back and relax throughout your journey: there are plenty of options for travelling by train with German, Austrian, Swiss and Italian railways. Once you arrive in Bolzano, continue your journey on bus no. 180; it’s just under an hour to our stop, Karersee/Lake Carezza Paolina. We will pick you up there with our complimentary hotel shuttle. Alternatively, we can arrange a pick-up in Bolzano for a fee. A pick-up service from Innsbruck and Verona is available on request.

By plane
If you prefer a quicker journey than travelling to South Tyrol by train or bus, flying is a faster way to begin your holiday. Since 2019, the Bolzano airline SkyAlps has connected around 30 European destinations with direct flights to and from Bolzano, using modern and quiet regional aircraft. From there, our shuttle will take you directly to Moseralm Dolomiti Hideaway (for a fee). The nearest airports are Innsbruck (85 km), Verona (217 km), Venice (220 km) and Milan Bergamo (275 km). On request, we can also arrange transfers from Innsbruck or Verona.

Tips for your journey
A few handy tips can make travel to the Dolomites even easier and more comfortable, whether by car or public transport:

plan an early start and avoid peak times whenever you can. This way, you can avoid traffic or the stress of tight connections and still enjoy relaxed, flexible breaks along the way.
Create a relaxing playlist or choose an engaging podcast for your journey. Then you will be able to switch off for a while.
Bring plenty of water and snacks for when you feel a little peckish along the way. This saves you the hassle of having to look for something along the way.
Make sure to take regular breaks: stop every 1–2 hours, get out and do a few stretching exercises. Even on the train, you should get up from time to time and move around as much as possible.
Plan your departure times and routes in advance, and keep all necessary documents (ID, tickets/vignette, route details/timetable) ready, ideally also offline or in printed form.
Before setting off, check current weather and road conditions and adapt your route if needed.

Travelling with children
Even with children, the journey to your holiday can be a relaxed experience. We recommend:

prepare a small travel bag for each child with audiobooks and headphones, colouring books, a favourite soft toy, games or similar. That way, children can easily keep themselves occupied.
Bring plenty of snacks and drinks, and make sure they are well packed and easy to enjoy without spills.
Play games like “I spy” together and make the most of your breaks with a bit of activity.
Try to start your journey a bit earlier. Keep calm and approach any surprises with a sense of humour.
Don’t forget the little “lifesavers” like tissues, rubbish bags, a travel first-aid kit and, if needed, a change of clothes.
While you travel to the Dolomites, you will pass through a truly unique landscape of mystical forests, sun-drenched alpine meadows and impressive peaks. With just a little planning, you can enjoy the scenery undisturbed and look forward to your holiday. Before you know it, you will be at Moseralm Dolomiti Hideaway, ready to enjoy even more relaxation and a wonderfully varied holiday. Book your room with a view of the Dolomites now, and have a wonderful journey!
