8:30 a.m.: Breakfast at Moseralm
Culinary delights start early in the morning at our house. As soon as the rising sun wakes you up, the aroma of fresh coffee and crispy pastries will lead you into our dining room, where a sumptuous breakfast buffet with regional and seasonal specialties is waiting for you - the perfect way to fortify yourself for a day in the mountains. We serve everything that is produced locally: different types of bread, butter, jam, honey, South Tyrolean cheese and sausages, fresh milk and yoghurt, as well as a changing assortment of homemade pastries. How about a Linzertorte, marble cake or apricot cake, for example? Depending on the season, South Tyrolean pastries are garnished with different types of fruit.
1 p.m.: Lunch at a mountain hut
After breakfast, the mountains are calling: it's up to you whether you conquer them on skis, in mountain boots or otherwise. But if you're on the move, you'll also need plenty of refreshments. At the mountain huts in the Dolomites, foods to suit every taste await you. The original South Tyrolean dumplings, for example, taste wonderfully delicious and are available in countless variations - hearty with bacon, creamy with cheese, healthy with spinach or unusual with beetroot. Another classic alpine dish is Bauerngröstl: sliced beef served in a pan with golden-brown potatoes and roasted onions. It is usually served with bacon and cabbage salad. If you still have some room left over, you shouldn't miss out on a fluffy Kaiserschmarrn. Flour, milk, eggs, vanilla sugar, and a little cranberry jam melt together to make one of the most famous and popular South Tyrolean desserts.
4 p.m.: Afternoon snack on the mountain
If the tour is a little longer and you pass a mountain hut on the way back, this is the perfect opportunity to try the Speckbrettl-Marende, a typical South Tyrolean food: we traditionally have a cold platter of local specialties in the afternoon. These include breads like the Paarlbrot or Schüttelbrot, original South Tyrolean bacon and various sausages, which used to be smoked in-house, as well as a small selection of cheeses. Today, the Speckbrettl is often even more varied. You’ll find gherkins, fresh tomatoes, radishes and even olives. Like most South Tyrolean dishes, the Speckbrettl is often accompanied by a good glass of wine or a schnapps. But don't overindulge - after all, you still have to make the rest of the way back to Moseralm.
7 p.m.: Dinner at Moseralm
Congratulations! You have made it to the highlight of your gourmet day in the Dolomites. A typical day at Moseralm Dolomiti Spa Resort ends with a 5-course menu of your choice, which always includes a large selection of salads and a delicious cheese buffet. Our motto for dinner: South Tyrolean specialties and alpine dishes interpreted in a refined and modern way. You may find your Schlutzkrapfen with spinach or asparagus platter with ham and sauce in unexpected flavour and aesthetic variations. As a main course, we like to serve the best meat dishes of the region, for example a hearty venison goulash or a tender saddle of lamb. Our kitchen team always loves to come up with new creations! And there's always room for something sweet afterwards: a soft apple strudel with a juicy filling and tasty vanilla ice cream, a dark chestnut heart with a dollop of cream...
9 p.m.: Wine tasting with our fine wines
No gourmet meal in South Tyrol would be complete without a concluding wine tasting. During our wine tastings in Italy, true connoisseurs and anyone who wants to become one will get to know the best bottles from South Tyrol, Italy, and the world. A fruity Chardonnay? A majestic Pinot Noir? Or would you prefer a sensual Goldmuskateller? You decide where you want to take your taste buds on a journey. If you are drawn further south, we will of course uncork a real Tuscan Chianti or a sparkling Prosecco for you - which you will also find at the aperitif before our regular gala dinners.
And that's how a gourmet day on your food holiday in Italy comes to an end.
We always create our well-thought-out menus in the knowledge that our discerning guests want to get to know typical South Tyrolean foods while also thinking outside the box. In this way, our dishes move with the times, but still point back to our roots.
Would you also like to get to know the best South Tyrolean specialties in the midst of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the Alps?
