60 years Carezza Ski

South Tyrol’s sunniest ski resort at the foot of the Rosengarten and Latemar mountains in the Dolomites UNESCO world natural heritage site of the Dolomites celebrates its 60th anniversary

Over 60 years of skiing and guaranteed snow in the unique landscape of the Dolomites! The Carezza ski resort will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with a fantastic programme of events during Festival Week from 29.01 to 05.02.2011. In the 1950/51 winter season when the first chair lift started running from the Karersee Hotel to just below the Masarè summit to the future Paolina Hut, winter sports enthusiasts were delighted by the first technical lift facility in the area. Further ski and t-bar lifts soon followed on the Rosengarten and Latemar sides and, thanks to its geographical position and altitude between 1600 and 2200 metres above sea level, the ski resort developed into one of the most snow-sure areas in the Dolomites.
As part of the anniversary week in February 2011, some of those who were involved at the time and skiing pioneers will report on the beginnings of the resort beneath the Rosengarten and invite visitors to take part in a guided historical ski hike and evening at the Grand Hotel Karersee on the theme of “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Carezza Ski in the 21st Century.” Details of the programme can be found in the attached document. Are you celebrating your 60th birthday in 2011 too? Anyone celebrating their 60th birthday in 2011 will, against production of proof of age, receive a special 6-day ski pass for only Euro 60.00 during the anniversary week from 29.01.-05.02.2011.
